A few frequently asked questions and answers.

How to answer a query?

  • Click on the “Queries” tab on the right panel.
  • Click on the “Answer” button of a query to answer it.
  • Enter the answer in the text field “Answer” and click “Save”.
  • Optionally an attachment can be uploaded via the button “Upload attachment”.

How can I move objects (floats, formula etc.) around?

  • Click on the three-dots icon near the label (eg. Table 1, Figure 1)
  • then click “Select” in the menu.
  • Place the cursor where you want to move the object to.
  • Then, click on the four-arrows icon near the “Insert” menu on top bar.

How can I tie-up two words to avoid bad break in the PDF output?

  • Select the desired words/strings in the edit window
  • then click on the tie icon on top. You can see a dash and a yellow highlight in the HTML output
  • When you create the PDF, you can see that the words/strings are tied-up.

How to insert a list?

  • Place the cursor where you want to insert the list.
  • Click on Insert menu on top, then choose “List”.
  • Similarly, you can insert a new list item by selecting “List item” in the same menu.

How to create a sublist?

  • Place the cursor on the list item.
  • Click on Shift-in icon on top.
  • Similarly, by clicking on the Shift-out icon you can move the lower level to higher level.
  • This is applicable to section counters too.

How can change ordered to unordered list and vice versa?

  • Place the cursor on the list that you want to convert.
  • Click on the list icons — unordered or ordered and select the numbering style you want if not want the default style.

How to upload a new version of an existing figure?

  • Go to “Assets” in the “Change” panel.
  • Click on “Simple”.
  • Click on “Upload” and choose the new image from your system.
  • If you are a typesetter or MC operator, you can upload all the desired versions in the “Full” option.

What are the different modes in this system?

  • There are three modes mainly: “Reading”, “Proofing” and “Pagination” mode.
  • The first mode that you enter is the “Reading” mode.
  • You can enter into “Proofing” mode by opening both the side panels — “Navigation” and “Change” panels.
  • “Pagination” mode can be selected by clicking on the PDF icon in the top toolbar where the editor and the PDF viewer will be visible.
  • You can switch on navigation and change panels along with this if you want. By clicking on the PDF icon again will switch off the PDF viewer.

How to edit tables?

  • Place your cursor on the table and right click your mouse to open a menu.
  • Select the required action you want from the menu, like adding/removing the rows/columns, merging the cells/rows, splitting merged cells/rows, add boarders etc.

How to add a new formula?

  • Click on “Insert” button.
  • Select “Display” and then “Formula” from the menu. An interface to enter the formula will appear.
  • By clicking on the keyboard icon there will help you enter the formula in the WYSIWYG mode.
  • If you are a LATEX user, you can enter the LaTeX code in the box below.
  • If you are already in a display formula, and want to add a new formula there, you click on the three dots near the equation number and select the insert menu (“Insert before” or “Insert after”), select “Display” and “Formula”.

How can I insert processing instructions for pagination?

  • Select “Insert” menu, lick on “Other” and then “TeX command”.
  • Choose the appropriate TeX command from the list.
  • If you want a new command other than the one that is not available in the list, then select the existing one and modify it.
